My Second Skydive

Sunday, August 14, 2011 8:00 AM

On Saturday, July 9th I did my second tandem skydive at Skydive the Ranch in Gardiner, NY. The jump was from approximately 13,500 feet with a freefall of approximately 6,000 feet. The first time I had gone skydiving was about a decade ago out of Calverton in Long Island. I didn’t remember it being as intense as this jump was, but I’m very happy I decided to jump again.

The most frequent question I get is whether I was scared or not. I was pretty relaxed the entire way up to 13,500 feet. Once they opened the door and I saw that first guy jump out though, I did get that “oh crap” feeling. For some reason the way the guy just dropped out the door gave me a few seconds of the butterflies in the stomach. But after that I was fine again. I was glad to be the first tandem out of the plane. I was the first out of the plane the first jump I made as well. I imagine it might get a little disconcerting watching person after person jump ahead of you and I’d rather just be out the door as soon as possible.

Below enjoy a video of my jump :-)
